Bài báo khoa học: Genetic diversity of the ornamental plant Anthurium andraeanum in Vietnam

Anthurium sp. is an imported ornamental plant with high economic value in Vietnam. Consumer preferences and demand depend greatly on the colour of the spathes, so understanding the genetic diversity of varieties is necessary to create novel flowers. In this work, we aimed to characterise genetic diversity among Anthurium accessions collected from four provinces in Vietnam (Ha Noi, Thua Thien Hue, Lam Dong and Can Tho). DNA of eighteen Anthurium accessions was extracted using the cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) method. Then, genomic DNA was amplified with matK and rbcL primers in PCR and sequencing to determine sequence parameters using DNAsp v6 and MEGA11 software. Three phylogenetic trees including the Neighborjoining (NJ) tree, Maximum likelihood (ML) tree and Bayesian inference (BI) tree were created to separate Anthurium accessions. In addition, ten morphological traits were also described and were cluster-analysed (UPGMA) using MVSP v3.22 software.

Bài báo khoa học: Micro-morphological and molecular characterization of Centella asiatica germplasm collected in Vietnam and Laos

Pennywort (Centella asiatica) is a commonly grown vegetable in India, Vietnam and other parts of Asia. Large variations exists in terms of morphology, phytochemical contents and genetics of C. asiatica collected from different geographical regions. However, micromorphological traits have rarely been studied in C. asiatica germplasm. In this study, micromophological traits were extensively studied. Large variations were observed which corroborated with the diversity of C. asiatica accessions. Genetic variations were studied using ITS, matK and trnH-psbA markers.

Bài báo khoa học: SCAR markers linked to Phytophthora capsici and Meloidogyne incognita resistance in Piper sp.

Black pepper (Piper nigrum) cultivation suffers from pathogenic Phytophthora capsici and Meloidogyne incognita, causing tremendous yield loss. To solve this problem, genetically sustainable disease-resistant accessions need to be selected and bred. However, the lack of genomic DNA data for Piper sp. could be a major obstacle...

Bài báo khoa học: DISTRIBUTION OF ANOECTOCHILUS ROXBURGHII (WALL.) LINDL IN BACH MA NATIONAL PARK OF CENTRAL VIETNAM

Anoectochilus roxburghii is an endangered medicinal plant with high economic value in Vietnam, but its population is decreasing due to overexploitation and unfavourable conditions. The base line distribution survey of A. roxburghii in Bach Ma National Park (BMNP) was carried out for the first time in this study. Survey lines were established through interviews to develop field surveys and collect ecological characteristics.

Bài báo khoa học: Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi increase aleurone layer zinc concentration but reduce overall zinc bioavailability in rice grain

Rice is a critical crop for the delivery of calories and essential micronutrients to the human diet. Biofortification of rice with zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe) aims to combat the health issues associated with “hidden hunger”. Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi have been explored for their potential to enhance Zn and Fe uptake in rice products.
