Abstract: Pennywort (Centella asiatica) is a commonly grown vegetable in India, Vietnam and other parts of Asia. Large variations exists in terms of morphology, phytochemical contents and genetics of C. asiatica collected from different geographical regions. However, micromorphological traits have rarely been studied in C. asiatica germplasm. In this study, micromophological traits were extensively studied. Large variations were observed which corroborated with the diversity of C. asiatica accessions. Genetic variations were studied using ITS, matK and trnH-psbA markers.
Keywords: Pennywort, micro-morphology, ITS, matK, trnH-psbA.
