Institute of Biotechnology, Hue University Affirms Its Leading Role in Scientific Research, Technology Transfer, and Innovation

In line with the Party’s and the State’s major policies on science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation—particularly Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on advancing science, technology, and innovation for the country’s rapid and sustainable development—the Institute of Biotechnology, Hue University conducted a progress review of research projects for which the Institute serves as the host institution on December 10, 2025. The review covered projects funded by both the Ministry of Education and Training and Hue University.

During the meeting, the Institute reviewed the progress of three research projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Training for the 2024–2025 period. These projects focus on priority research areas, including plant diseases, pathogenic microorganisms, bioactive compounds from medicinal plants, and advanced molecular analysis. The projects are:   Investigation of the Mechanisms of Pepper Yellow Leaf Curl Virus (PepYLCV) Infection in Chili Pepper and Tomato in Central Vietnam (Project Leader: Dr. Ho Ngoc Han); Chemical Constituents and Anti-inflammatory and Hypoglycemic Activities of Selected Clerodendrum Species in Vietnam (Project Leader: Dr. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu); Application of Multilocus Molecular Analysis for the Identification of Colletotrichum Species Infecting Coffee in Vietnam (Project Leader: M.Sc. Nguyen Quang Hoang Vu).

In addition, the Institute reviewed six Hue University-level research projects implemented during 2023–2024. These projects span a wide range of research fields, including nanotechnology, environmental biotechnology, plant protection, microbiology, molecular biology, and the pilot production of plant varieties using in vitro propagation techniques. Many of the projects are application-oriented and address the practical needs of Thua Thien Hue Province and the Central Vietnam region.

At the review meeting, each project leader presented the implementation progress, research outputs, budget utilization, plans for the remaining project period, and recommendations. The Review Committee acknowledged the dedication, responsibility, and research efforts demonstrated by the project teams, while providing expert guidance and recommendations to enhance scientific quality, promote practical applications, and strengthen the potential for technology transfer.

By simultaneously managing and implementing numerous research projects at different funding levels, the Institute of Biotechnology, Hue University continues to reaffirm its leading role in scientific research, biotechnology development, high-quality human resource training, and technology transfer. Looking ahead, the Institute identifies scientific research and innovation as key drivers of sustainable development, aligning its activities with the strategic directions of the Central Government, the Government of Vietnam, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Science and Technology, Hue University, and local authorities. Through these efforts, the Institute contributes to implementing the objectives of Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and national and local science, technology, and innovation development programs, while steadily advancing its position as a reputable center for biotechnology research, technology transfer, and innovation in Central Vietnam and across the country.
