II. FUNCTION AND MISSION

1. Function

The laboratory of Molecular Biology conducts basic and applied research, produces and tests diagnostic kits and treatments for a number of human, animal and plant diseases. We aim to perform biochemical and genetic tests for human diseases, organize training and short courses on the application of modern molecular biology techniques in diagnostics and therapies. Furthermore, we also consult on the design, construction and practice in molecular biology labs.

2. Mission

2.1. Basic and applied science to serve society

We carry out basic and applied research to develop multiplex PCR/Realtime PCR to detect and genotype pathogens in humans, animals and plants. We work with The national committee in prevention and control COVID-19, Thua Thien Hue Ministry of Health, Centre for Disease Control to screen and detect COVID-19 in the population.

2.2. Science and Technology service

We perform diagnostic tests for infectious and genetic diseases in humans, animals and plants.

We consult, design laboratories and research centres focussing on molecular biology techniques in diagnosing diseases.

We transfer technology and protocols in diagnostic tests.

2.3. Training

We organize short courses (1 week) focussing on basic and advanced molecular biology techniques for students and technicians in the Central and Central Highland areas.

2.4. Commercialisation

We research and develop diagnostic kits and reagents for biochemical and genetic testing.

2.5. Collaboration

We work with scientists, organizations and companies, present at seminars and conferences in Vietnam and abroad.
