
Within the framework of regional cooperation on science and technology development, a regional conference on evaluating the survey results of the project “Community Watershed-based Agriculture and Fishery Development Project (CWAFD)” was held on October 12th 2025. The project is implemented through a collaboration between Institute of Biotechnology, Hue University, and the Research Development and Training Center (RDTC) of Savannakhet University, Lao PDR. The expected implementation period of 2025 – 2028. The project comprises need assessment survey and finding validation, and training on water resources management, aquatic resource management, agriculture fisher production and management, food processing and farm management.
At the conference, Assoc.Prof. Truong Thi Hong Hai, Director of the Institute of Biotechnology, Hue University, presented the initial survey results from farming households in A Luoi 4 commune, Hue City. The result showed a diverse livelihood landscape, but challenging of rural households, particularly in resource management and production development. In addition, technical and market-related issues concerning agricultural products have also been clearly identified. Based on the survey results, several potential solutions have been initially proposed to address the challenges in sustainable agricultural production in A Luoi 4 commune, as well as similar localities production models in Vietnam and other countries within the project network.
