Institute of Biotechnology, Hue University Holds Institutional-Level Dissertation Defense for PhD Candidate Dang Ngoc Sang
On November 17, 2025, the Institute of Biotechnology, Hue University, held the institutional-level doctoral dissertation defense for Ph.D. candidate Dang Ngoc Sang (Cohort 2021), majoring in Biology (Code: 9420101). The dissertation, entitled “Study on the Production and Bioactivity Evaluation of Gypenosides from Cell Suspension Cultures of Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.) Makino)”, was conducted under the academic supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quoc Dung, University of Education, Hue University, and Dr. Hoang Tan Quang, Institute of Biotechnology, Hue University.
The defense was attended by Dr. Le Van Tuong Lan, Head of the Office of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, representing Hue University. Representatives of the Institute of Biotechnology included the Institute Board of Directors, faculty members, and Ph.D. candidates currently enrolled at the Institute. The event also welcomed colleagues, friends, family members of Ph.D. candidate Dang Ngoc Sang, and others interested in the dissertation. The Institutional Doctoral Dissertation Evaluation Committee consisted of seven members, established under Decision No. 106/QĐ-VCNSH dated September 22, 2025, issued by the Director of the Institute of Biotechnology, Hue University.

During the defense, doctoral candidate Dang Ngoc Sang presented the rationale for the study, its scientific and practical significance, the research methodology, and the major findings of the dissertation to the Evaluation Committee. The research results have been published in SCIE/Scopus-indexed journals as well as the Hue University Journal of Science.

The Evaluation Committee highly appreciated the scientific and practical significance of the dissertation, as well as the dedication and efforts demonstrated by doctoral candidate Dang Ngoc Sang throughout his study and research. On behalf of the Committee, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Thi Hong Hai, Chair of the Committee, congratulated the candidate on successfully defending his dissertation at the institutional level. She also encouraged him to carefully address the comments, recommendations, and evaluations provided by the Committee members in order to further revise, supplement, and finalize the dissertation for evaluation at the next level.
