Effect of salinity to the speed of growth and survival rate of Anabas testudineus Bloch, 1792

Summary: This research was carried out on the Square-head climbing perch at the Center for Research and practice fisheries - Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry from August to December 2012, with the goal defined effect of salinity to the speed of growth and survival rate of Anabas testudineus Bloch, 1792. The experiments was been completely randomized design with 5 experimental formulas with salinity 4, 8, 12, 16 ‰ and the control group (fresh water) with 3 replications. The main contents of the experiment were: volatility of environmental factors (temperature, pH, DO, NH3); growth in volume, length, the correlation between growth volume and length; survival rate, feed intake, feed conversion ratio (FCR); economic efficiency. The research outcomes showed that: the growth and survival rate in experimental formulas 4, 8, 12‰ were not significantly different (p>0,05) compared to the control group, experimental formulas 16 ‰ was lowest and significantly different (p <0,05) compared to the control group; about feed intake, FCR in experimental formulas 4 and 8 ‰ were not significantly different (p>0,05) compared to the control group, and experimental formulas 12 and 16 ‰ were significantly different (p<0,05) compared to the control group; about economic effectiveness of experimental formulas 8, 12 ‰ were equivalent to the control group, experimental formulas 4 ‰ was higher than the control group, experimental formulas 16 ‰ was lower than the control group. The research results show that: the Square-head climbing perch commercial in salinity from 0 to 12 ‰ for growth, survival rate and economic efficiency were high.
